Sketch – London Event Photographer

London Event Photographer

As a London event photographer I’m fortunate that I can cycle to most jobs and this recent event at Sketch in Conduit Street was just perfect with a handy lamp post just yards from the front door.

Sketch is a stunningly designed destination for food, drink and entertainment occupying two floors of an 18th century building in Mayfair. There are five restaurants and bars to choose from and the event I was covering, a small gathering to celebrate a 21st birthday, took place in the Lecture Room upstairs and adjacent to the Michelin starred dining room. Flash photography isn’t allowed (not that I use it much) and the very subdued lighting presents a real challenge.

Luckily my trusty Nikon D3s coupled with a 24mm f1.4 set at 10,000 iso and f1.4 – f2 easily devoured every bit of available light, the perfect tool for a London Event Photographer and, once processed in Lightroom 4 I was very happy with the results. And thankfully, so was my client!

Big shout to David and Henry and all the staff at Sketch who were incredibly helpful.

I’m still waiting for delivery of my new Nikon D4 and I’m hoping it will deliver even better results. C’mon Nikon!

Body Adorned and Dame Vivienne Westwood

Dame Vivienne Westwood

Earlier this week I photographed the opening by Dame Vivienne Westwood of the Body Adorned Exhibition at the Horniman Museum & Gardens. The exhibition explores how body adornment has become part of London life and well worth a visit.

The day featured the creativity of the HOPE Cupcake Team at the Harris Girls Academy, East Dulwich. HOPE stands for Helping Others Promoting Enterprise and the girls created beautiful cupcakes to promote HOPE, plus a special boxed gift for Dame Vivienne Westwood. The girls are mentored by Suzanne James who also created mouth watering canapés for 350 the guests to consume.

I was impressed to see Dame Vivienne Westwood arrive by bicycle, no mean feat cycling up that hill! As an Event Photographer London I cycle to jobs as often as possible and strongly agree with her views on climate change and the need for us all to take action now.

A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer

London Event Photographer

Last night the Century Club hosted the Cast After Party for the one off showing at the Lyric Theatre of ‘A Memory, A Monologue, A Rant and A Prayer’. This glittering fundraising event was produced by Lauren Prakke and Michelle Yue of Restless Buddha to help women all over the world. 100% of the money raised went to Women for Women International, V-Day and Domestic Violence Intervention Project.

The celebrity guest list included Thandie Newton, Neneh Cherry, Rosario Dawson, Trudi Styler and MyAnna Buring who were directly supporting these worthwhile charities. A great gig for a London Event Photographer

Creative Circle Awards 2012

London Event Photographer.

This year the Creative Circle held their annual Honours Awards Night at the Roundhouse in Camden. It’s one of the highlights for Creatives in the Communications Industry where due recognition is rewarded for outstanding creativity across a range of categories. Hosted by Radio 1 DJ, Edith Bowman and Creative Circle President Ed Morris with entertainment from the magnificent voice of Paloma Faith and irresistible catering from The London Kitchen.

As an Event photographer my take away from the night was the film Life Story by BBH for Barnado’s that won a well deserved Gold in the Charity Category.
